Getting Your UV Curing Right with Gallium Iodide Lamps
Look, standard mercury vapor lamps are great for a lot of things. But sometimes, they just don’t have the punch needed to trigger certain photoinitiators. That’s where our gallium iodide lamps come in. We build these specifically for those high-intensity jobs where you need a very specific kind of UV light to actually get the job done. The science bit (made simple) It all comes down to the mix of gallium and iodide inside the quartz tube. By tweaking that ratio, we shift the light’s peak. Why does that matter? Because it lets the light punch deeper into thick coatings or those stubborn, pigmented resins that usually block UV rays. We also spend a lot of time dialing in the gas pressure. If it’s even a little bit off, you’ll deal with flickering or, worse, your electrodes will burn out way too soon. Nobody wants to be replacing bulbs every other week. Dealing with the heat These lamps run hot. I mean really hot. To stop the glass from softening or warping under all that stress, we use high-purity fused quartz. But we can’t do all the heavy lifting. You’ve got to make sure your cooling—whether you’re using air or a water jacket—can actually handle the wattage. If your cooling is too weak, the quartz degrades. Period. Your lamp life will tank. Getting them installed We designed these to be drop-in replacements. You shouldn’t have to rebuild your entire curing array just to use our bulbs. We weld the electrodes to create a total gas-tight seal. If even a tiny bit of oxygen leaks in, the arc dies instantly. We also obsess over the pin alignment and the physical footprint. We want you to just plug them in and get back to work without having to modify your fixtures. Our promise on performance We aren’t guessing here. We test every single lamp with radiometric gear to prove the mW/cm² output before it even leaves our shop. We go head-to-head with the big global brands. If you find that our custom lamps aren’t hitting the curing speed or the cross-linking density of a name-brand equivalent at the same price, we’ll give you your money back. It’s that simple.
