That’s a recipe for disaster. We actually look at your line speed and what’s in your ink to make sure the lamp actually fits your setup. If you’re running high-speed offset or screen printing, the spectral output is everything. It’s the difference between ink that cures all the way down to the substrate and ink that just “skins over,” leaving you with a sticky mess. Power and the Balancing Act Inside these lamps, you’ve got a mercury arc. When you hit it with high voltage through a quartz envelope, it kicks out a concentrated blast of UV light. We offer different wattages because every conveyor speed is different. Higher wattage means more punch (irradiance), which lets you crank up the line speed without worrying about under-cured ink.
